Sibling Podcasts for Creative Agency
ClientDigital SurgeonsDate2024AuthorEvan Desaulnier & DSShare

This project brought together a pair of cousin podcasts—two distinct shows produced by different branches of Digital Surgeons, a creative agency known for its work in digital branding.

forward obsessed

Forward Obsessed is an entrepreneur-focused podcast exploring start-ups and the personal journeys of their founders. Recorded live in-studio, each episode features two co-hosts in conversation with a guest, creating a long-form, insight-driven interview experience.

Designing Demand takes a different approach: a remote, one-on-one interview series spotlighting marketing professionals with unconventional, diverse career paths. Guests join from around the world, bringing a wide range of perspectives.

While each show serves a different niche in the business world, both share the same creative DNA. The Digital Surgeons ethos runs through their tone, style, and storytelling. From a design standpoint, it made sense to align them visually—subtly connecting them while preserving their individual identities. Forward Obsessed needed a refresh, while Designing Demand called for more extensive original asset creation.

Designing Demand: Bringing It to Life

For Designing Demand, the priority was to create a stylish video intro that brought their cover art to life. We animated the existing particle design, layering in subtly animated text and graphic elements to add energy and movement. The result was a high-impact opener that set the tone for each interview.

We also produced a teaser clip to run as a pre-roll—featuring one of the most insightful moments from the episode. The grayscale treatment with an RGB-split focal area gave it a striking, modern look. To complete the package, we handled full audio mastering, color correction, and custom lower thirds, ensuring a polished, professional finish from start to end.

Thumbnail Artwork with a Shared Identity

For both shows, we created episode-specific thumbnails for their video releases. Each show’s design leaned heavily on greyscale imagery paired with bold accent colors, so we used that as the unifying cue. The result: two sets of thumbnails that are distinct in style yet clearly connected by a shared visual language.

Animated Logo

We transformed a static logo from the client into an animated intro that captured his interest in water sports and mountain climbing. We animated both the wave and mountain climber graphics, adding subtle movement to the logo. The animation was enhanced with sound effects of a wave crashing, a rope tightening, and ambient ocean bird sounds.

Final Intro with Clip Titles

Here is the finalized video intro. We crafted motion graphics for the title, integrating forward slashes from the original design. We also used client-provided footage of Hawaii, which we color-graded and speed-ramped for the title sequence. Additionally, we sourced and edited a music track to complement the course’s tone. These combined efforts resulted in a polished and engaging intro that perfectly sets the stage for the video course.

Color Grading

The videos were originally shot in LOG format, which allowed us the flexibility to fully customize the color grading. Aiming to complement the vibrant tropical setting, we opted for a bright and appealing color palette.

Video Clip with Post-Production

The editing process for the video involved careful organization and refinement to deliver a polished final product. We divided the content into distinct clips, each focused on specific topics, to ensure clarity and structure. We used two camera angles and punch-in shots to add visual variety and smooth transitions, improving the video’s flow. A crucial part of this process was mastering and editing the raw audio to create a consistent listening experience, focusing on reducing ambient noise for clear audio.

Promo Trailer

The client requested a trailer to showcase the course and attract potential students. We selected the most impactful segments from the series and combined them with suitable b-roll from the client. We also added select stock footage to enhance the visuals. The trailer featured promo text cards that matched the course’s branding and the motion graphics from the video intro, creating a cohesive and engaging preview for viewers.
